Talon Talk: From Your Trustees

Greetings from your Board of Trustees:

Here we are, it’s Christmas time once again! The Trustees would like to thank everyone who has helped make the start of this Christmas season so fun and successful already! Thanks to our awesome staff for decorating our lodge in the festive spirit- We are now ready to mix, mingle and jingle with our Eagles brothers and sisters and to welcome many holiday gatherings in our beautiful Ballroom!

A big thanks to Scott Mitchell for heading up the Christmas float, and also to John Sobral, Judey Bown and Matt Sullivan. But, we couldn’t have done it without the trailer that Gene McCloskey loaned us and the shop that Rod and Sandy Stach provided, so thank you! To everyone who worked diligently on our first float in many years, and those who braved the cold to walk along side for the Christmas parade, thank you! We won an honorable mention and also made the front page of the CDA Press! Thank you to Tammy Wasson for being our “Christmas Queen.”

In other news, we were awarded the grant for the unveiling of the stairwell windows on the west side of the building! The Idaho Heritage Trust organization will match us dollar for dollar to renovate the windows in the staircase leading to the ballroom. This will let in lots of light, open up the view to the lake and will just be more pleasing to the eye. The work should begin shortly after the new year, weather permitting. Thank you to John Sobral, Rod Stach and Matt Sullivan for your efforts in making this happen. Thanks also to John and Rod for combing through the downstairs storage room and then organizing it’s treasured belongings. This has been a catch-all for decades and was in great need of organization. Thanks for your hard work, it really shows! They discovered many old-time photos that we intend to frame and hang along the stairway walls, takeing you through history on your way up the Ballroom.

The Ballroom Blitz Fundraiser is going strong! In case you haven’t heard, we will be renovating our beloved Ballroom when our goal of $50,000 is met. This amazing event space fuels our funds of giving back to our local charities. Bringing back the Ballroom to its glory days with a classy, yet nostalgic look will make this one-and-only historic Ballroom in our area a much more desirable venue to rent. If you’d like more information, please contact any Trustee. Thanks to Aileen Koler for leading the way in our Ballroo Blitz fundraiser. We have reached $13,445, which is amazing, but have a ways to go! To donate: 1) Send or drop off a check to our Secretary, Patty (she will accept cash also) 2) Use the QR Code to our official fundraising page to donate with a credit card 3) Drop cash in the acrylic box located at the front of the bar.

As the Christmas season begins, please know that we have lots of Christmas parties booked for the month, and also entertainment many nights, sometimes both upstairs and downstairs. Please remember to bring your membership card when you come to the Eagles as we will have security on the weekends. When approached by security, please cooperate and be cordial as the security guard is doing their job in order to keep our Social Room for members and their guests.

Your Trustees wish you Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas to all!
